What is WAVE PTX and how does it work?
WAVE PTX is a carrier-independent push-to-talk subscription service from Motorola Solutions that connects team members at the push of a button across different networks and devices. WAVE PTX uses the cloud to extend instantaneous private and group push-to-talk (PTT) communication to phones, tablets and PCs to help enterprises get more done faster. It eliminates the barriers between devices, networks and locations to let everyone be part of the conversation.

How do customers benefit from using WAVE PTX?
WAVE PTX enhances team communication by combining the speed and simplicity of PTT communication with the ability to share details via text, photos, videos, or documents, along with the extended reach provided by nationwide coverage. The result is increased efficiency, improved productivity and greater collaboration for organizations of all sizes.

What cellular network do WAVE TLK series devices and radios utilize?
Customers will not need to worry about subscribing to a specific carrier network. They will subscribe to Motorola Solutions’ WAVE wireless service, which leverages the nation’s best carriers for service. TLK Series devices and radios (TLK 25, TLK 100, TLK 110 and TLK 150) will only work with Motorola Solution’s WAVE Wireless Service.

What subscription plans are available?
User subscriptions can be purchased on an annual or monthly basis, allowing organizations to add or remove users as their needs change.

How do WAVE TLK devices and radios radio align with Motorola Solutions’ larger portfolio?
WAVE devices (TLK 25) and two-way radios (TLK 100, TLK 110 and TLK 150) complement Motorola Solutions’ traditional Land Mobile Radio (LMR) offerings, which are focused on communication on-site or through regional systems.

WAVE two-way radios meet customers’ needs for “wide area coverage” — across the country or across thousands of facility locations. All WAVE two-way radios also can be integrated into supported MOTOTRBO systems to extend communication between traditional two-way radio systems nationwide.

TLK 25 Wi-Fi brings new capabilities in a flexible form factor to both WAVE PTX and MSI portfolios. At the same time, TLK 25 Wi-Fi complements Motorola Solutions’ existing communications solutions, as it interoperates with existing TLK radios, MOTOTRBO™ radios and systems and the WAVE PTX mobile application.

How does WAVE PTX differ from broadband PTT services offered by carriers using the Motorola Solutions Kodiak Broadband PTT platform?
Both solutions provide fast, secure, reliable push-to-anything communication, allowing users to instantaneously share voice, videos, images, documents and text with individuals or groups. However, WAVE PTX, makes it possible for users to select which network they want to use, making it possible for organizations to implement a “bring your own device” approach to broadband PTT communications.

What types of businesses will use the WAVE PTX?
It will be highly useful to medium- and large-sized businesses with task-oriented workers who require constant, daily communication with dispatch or management. It also will be helpful for industries with field services where tracking vehicle locations and ongoing communication with field teams is essential for business operations. Is there a dispatch application available?
Yes. WAVE PTX Dispatch is an easy-to-use web-based application that allows customers to keep in touch With teams and field personnel, wherever they are. WAVE PTX Dispatch provides the communication tools, including group & individual multimedia communication, talkgroup monitoring, location mapping, and geofencing necessary to rapidly respond to incidents, events, customer requests and other situations that need immediate attention.

Can talkgroups and contact lists be customized?
Yes. The WAVE portal allows customers to program and configure devices remotely.

Is there an administration tool available?
The WAVE PTX Administration portal, available in the WAVE Portal, is a web-based tool available from any Internet connection that allows customers to setup and manage accounts, add and remove users and manage talkgroups.

What is the WAVE Two-Way Radio?
The WAVE two-way radios (TLK 100, TLK 110 and TLK 150) provide businesses with instant push-to-talk team communications over a nationwide LTE cellular network, with location reporting, Wi-Fi calling and a rugged design. These are a bundled solution which includes the device, cellular service and software (WAVE application), and nationwide wireless data service. They are built specifically for the demanding needs of businesses with a geographically dispersed workforce.

Why is the device called a two-way radio if it works on a cellular network?
The (TLK 100, TLK 110 and TLK 150) devices have traditional two-way radio form factor and does not have telephony capabilities.

Can TLK radios be used as a Wi-Fi only devices?
No. While the radio can function without LTE coverage by connecting to Wi-Fi, it requires a service plan to operate. However, the TLK 25 wearable device offers a Wi-Fi only version.

How can I access emergency features for WAVE TLK two-way radios?
By purchasing a WAVE PTX Safeguard subscription, you will gain access to the TLK series (TLK 100, TLK 110 and TLK 150) emergency features. These include lone worker, man down/fall alert, ambient listening and emergency calling.

What is TLK 25 Wi-Fi?
TLK 25 Wi-Fi is the first Wi-Fi only, wearable communications device in the Motorola Solutions WAVE PTX portfolio. Designed for efficiency, it features a sleek form factor, intuitive voice assistant, key emergency features and WAVE PTX interoperability.

Which networks does TLK 25 wi-fi support?
TLK 25 Wi-Fi is compatible with your existing enterprise or personal Wi-Fi networks. It can operate on both 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

How can I access emergency features for WAVE TLK device?
By purchasing a WAVE PTX Safeguard subscription, you will gain access to the TLK 25 emergency features. These include lone worker, man down/fall alert, ambient listening and emergency calling.

Operations with limited buttons and no screen, how do I operate TLK 25 Wi-Fi?
Users can carry out most device operations using TLK 25’s Intuitive Voice Assistant (VA). When users press the VA button on the device or its included earpiece, they can place and manage communications, access key device information and understand safety features.

What languages does TLK 25’s Voice Assistant support?
TLK 25’s Intuitive Voice Assistant currently supports English and Spanish (MX) and will be expanded to other global languages. In addition, the Intuitive Voice Assistant is capable of recognizing and understanding various accents and verbiage.

Why do I have to use an earpiece with TLK 25 Wi-Fi?
To ensure discreet communications, the TLK 25 Wi-Fi does not have external speakers or microphones. Users can connect to a variety of audio sources for communication - TLK 25’s included earpiece or any 3.5mm and Bluetooth 5.0 compatible accessories with a microphone.

Does WAVE PTX support interoperability with land mobile radio (LMR) networks?
WAVE PTX supports wireline connectivity to MOTOTRBO Capacity Max, Capacity Plus, Connect Plus and IP Site Connect (multi-tenant gateway only) networks to eliminate the communication barriers between broadband and LMR users.
