Congratulations, you’ve successfully launched new or upgraded two-way radio equipment, but now how to keep your team moving strong? Here are some suggestions from our team of Motorola Platinum Channel Partner and Motorola Service Elite Specialist experts.
Post-deployment
Now that your new two-way radio system is implemented, it will benefit your organization to have a system providing all members who are supervising and using the system to feel supported. When the system is needed, all users should continue to feel confident with its operation.
- Organize a support path
After initial training and roll-out, ensure a confident deployment by providing a support path for all users. Ideally, groups, departments and divisions will have lead operators within their team they can turn to for support, with those leads escalating unresolved issues accordingly.
- Provide an escalation support plan
If your organization has a ticketing system, consider using it for requesting and tracking follow-up support and resolution. In more informal or smaller settings, support channels (points of contact and/or email addresses) can be disseminated within your user groups.
- Continue planning and feedback
Your two-way radio support group, which might include yourself, team leads, and other organization leaders, should meet periodically post-training to assess frequent or difficult questions, pain points, open support queries, plan future trainings and exercises, and address any other business related to the emergency communication system. Gather action items and plan an agenda to help each meeting run smoothly and remain productive.
- Hold ongoing refresher sessions and exercises
One of the most important and critical post-deployment activities your organization can implement are regular simulation exercises that require participants to use the two-way radio system as they would in an emergency. Especially if two-way radio use is occasional, this will not only help ensure your users are prepared to use the equipment, but will help illuminate issues that may need to be addressed, along with ensuring you are prepared for an actual emergency scenario.
Practice makes perfect, and the more time your emergency responders use their two-way equipment, the easier it will become. In the case of an actual crisis, radio operation should be second nature.
